Cuerpo Vivo: A Movement & Voice Revival
FEBUARY 2027 | OAXACA, MXSomething in you wants to move, and hasn't had the room. Five days, moving from grounded to fully expressed, through dance, voice, and everything in between.
THE INVITATION You've spent years getting fluent in your own mind, planning it, managing it, keeping it useful. The body came along for the ride, mostly quiet, mostly ignored except when something hurt.
Cuerpo Vivo asks you to reverse that for a week. Movement first. Voice first. Breath first. The thinking can catch up later, if it needs to.
This isn't a retreat you complete like a checklist. It's a rhythm, built by three collaborators who each work a different door into the body, held in a place built for exactly this kind of gathering. You bring whatever you're carrying, and the days, the ocean, and the group do the rest.
❋ A Rhythm, Not a ScheduleFive days move through five elements, earth to ether. Nothing is rigid. The days respond to the group, the weather, and what's actually happening in the room.
✱ Three Guides, One ContainerNico leads movement, Nick leads voice, Pablo leads breath. Each works a different door into the body, and the week is built so the three come together instead of staying separate.
❋ Expert FacilitationA certified 5Rhythms facilitator, a Carnegie Hall teaching artist, and over a decade of combined practice moving groups through the body, not just teaching about it.
❋ Nothing Forced, Everything OptionalNo dance background needed. No singing experience required. You move and make sound at your own pace, and every part of the program stays fully clothed and entirely up to you.
THE CONTAINERRaw concrete, guanacaste wood, and an oak dance floor built by hand, all left unpainted on purpose. The Pacific hits this coast harder than most, and CAMP was built to hold that kind of force. For five nights, that same honesty becomes the room you move, sing, breathe, and rest in.
The property holds a 120m² oak-floor movement studio, the largest of its kind in Zipolite, a 90m² shala with jungle views, a soundproofed black box theater, a heated mineral pool, and a sauna for 10. Meals come from SENEM, CAMP's on-site restaurant, vegetarian and included.
A note on where we're staying: Zipolite is home to Mexico's only legally recognized nudist beach, and nudity is normalized across CAMP's grounds. Cuerpo Vivo itself is not a nudist retreat. Nothing in our program asks or expects nudity at any point. Outside our scheduled sessions, you're free to engage with the property and beach however you choose, under CAMP's own house guidelines. Everything inside Cuerpo Vivo's program is fully clothed and entirely up to you.
WHO THIS IS FOR This isn't for everyone, and that's the point.
✔ People who live mostly in their heads and want to remember what it feels like to live in a body.
✔ People with no dance background who are curious anyway.
✔ People ready to make sound in front of others, even if the voice feels rusty.
✔ People who want structure and freedom in the same week, not one or the other.
The Guides
Sound Mind
A nonprofit built around mental health and music, working to end the stigma around mental health through community and open dialogue. Sound Mind's presence anchors the retreat's voice and sound work in something larger than a single facilitator
Host
Nick Demeris
A two-time TEDx speaker and teaching artist at Carnegie Hall, Nick has spent over a decade turning rooms of strangers into a working choir, using the human voice as an instrument of connection rather than performance.
Human Instruments
Bodywerk Nico Allen
A certified 5Rhythms facilitator, Nico leads movement as a direct path to expression, not technique for its own sake. His own description of the work: "I am a verb."
Kriya Yoga Pablo Jivam
Pablo leads Kriya Yoga in his required slots across the week, using breath and structured practice to prepare the body for what the rest of the day will move through.
Reconnect with your body and mind as you escape the noise of everyday life.
THE ARC OF THE WEEK Five days, five elements, each carrying its own weight.
Monday - Finding Ground: Arriving in the body. Building trust with the group and the land.
Day 1 · EarthTuesday - Expansion & Energy: Vitality, desire, expression, energy moving outward. One session held by the ocean.
Day 2 · FireWednesday - Surrender & Letting Go: Fluidity, release, emotional movement. Less controlling, more following.
Day 3 · WaterThursday - Imagination & Uplift: Spaciousness, play, breath and spirit given more room. A two-hour 5Rhythms wave closes the day.
Day 4 · AirFriday - Integration & Connection: Bringing it together before departure. What remains once the week is over.
Day 5 · EtherThe retreat opens Sunday with a ceremony and shared dinner, a clear line between arriving and beginning. It closes Friday morning with an integration session, so what moved during the week has somewhere to land before you fly home.
The order and content of specific sessions may shift. Cuerpo Vivo is built to respond to the group, the weather, and what's actually happening in the room, not to a fixed script. A detailed schedule will be shared closer to the retreat.
